Craig Cameron-Mackintosh (b. 1987) is a Cape Town-based painter and filmmaker merging portraiture with cinematic storytelling
Winner of the 2019 Sanlam Portrait Award, he harnesses photographic effects like high-contrast silhouettes, motion blur, and overexposure to suggest stories beyond the picture plane
Light, form, and a feeling of quiet presence underpin his practice – seen both in his oil portraits and in three monoprint series printed at The Artists' Press in his hometown of White River, where a subdued palette captures the intersection of man and nature
Beyond his studio practice, he directed the 2019 documentary Billy Monk – Shot in the Dark and serves as the archivist for the Billy Monk photographic collection
